Workshops’ Synopsis

Below are detailed descriptions of the workshops to be held during Rhema Conference. Click on a link for more details.


Worship (Day 1), 14 Dec

BS01: Unique Worship

Synopsis: Different people have different temperaments. All of us are uniquely made just like the different characters we learn about in the OT. Ever wondered how their unique characters in the OT can complement their worship to God? Come and learn all about it in this workshop!

Objective: To learn how the different DISC characters in the bible have their individual unique ways of worshipping God.

BS02: Overcoming Temptation

Synopsis: Facebook, blogger, wordpress, pet society etc. Do all these sound familiar to you? Have you been spending too much time on all these activities that you have been neglecting God? Or has these activites taken one of the top priorities in your life? If you answered yes to the questions above, you should come for this workshop.

Objective: Learn ways to overcome addiction to cyber-gaming, internet, facebook etc.

CL01: Sing a New Song to the Lord

Synopsis: Yearning to worship God freely but restricted by singing? Ever wondered how tools you come into contact daily like blogging and facebook can serve as avenues to worship God? Hesitate no longer if you have pondered over these questions before. Come and sign up for this course and learn various new ways to express your worship to God.

Objective: Learn various forms of worship like song writing, poem, blogging, drawing etc.

CL02: An Emotionally Healthy Worshipper

Synopsis: Do you often find yourself to be a “lousy” worshipper every Sunday because of the emotional ups and downs you have had throughout the week? Emotions are in built in the creation of man. How then do we build up a proper healthy emotion throughout the week such that we are in a “tip-top” condition on Sunday to worship God. Come and be equipped to be an emotionally healthy worshipper.

Objective: learn how to build and maintain healthy emotions.

LS01: A 360 Degrees Leader

Synopsis: Ever felt like an octopus having to cater and meet the needs of the different groups, types and ages of people in your cell? Ever felt that you just can’t seem to connect with cell members who are much younger or older than you? This workshop is catered just for you!

Objective: Learn ways to meet and cater to the needs of cell members of different ages and personality.

LS02: Leadership in Courtship

Synopsis: God intends all binding relationships to draw us closer to Him, never to become an idol that takes us away from Him. Is the person you are courting bringing you closer to or further away from God? What are some boundaries you should be setting pro-actively in your courtship? Come for this workshop to learn how you can take the lead in your relationship to bring it to a higher level!

Objective: To learn practical ways on how to put God at the centre of courtship.


Warfare (Day 2), 15 Dec

BS03: Living in the Last Days

Synopsis: What is our role as Christians living in the last days? Is our role just showing people the way back to God? Learn from the 7 roles of the 7 churches in the book of Revelations.

Objective: to learn what we are supposed to do as Christians living in the last days.

BS04: Demonized or Depressed?

Synopsis: All of us can identify with feelings of sadness and discouragement. We know what it is like to feel depressed. However, sometimes, the symptoms of demonisation can be quite similar to that of someone feeling depressed. How then do we be wise and discern the difference? Come to this workshop and be equipped!

Objective: to learn what is the difference in “symptoms” between someone who is demonised and someone who is depressed and how to help them.

CL03: Uniting to Pray

Synopsis: Ever wanted to start a prayer movement with your cell members but didn’t know how to? Ever thought of how you can rally your cell members together and help them to be enthusiastic and fervent in prayer? If you have no idea, fret not, for the solution is here!

Objective: to learn practical ways on how to gather people together to pray for a common purpose.

CL04: Spiritual Frontline

Synopsis: How do we deal with spiritual warfare? What battle attitudes should we have? How can we face spiritual conflict without losing sight of God’s power and sovereignty? Come and learn how to deal with spiritual warfare in this course!

Objective: to have a better idea on spiritual warfare and how to deal with it.

LS03: Intercessory Prayer

Synopsis: An intercessor is one who takes the place of another or pleads another’s case. Intercession is defined as “holy, believing, persevering prayer whereby someone pleads with God on behalf of another.”
Do you have the desire to be at the frontline and intercede for people through prayer? Do you care enough to stand in the gap and go before God on other’s behalf? If you have the desire, this workshop is just for you! It will teach you what an intercessor does and how to be an intercessor!

Objective: To learn the role of an intercessor.

LS04: Spiritual Mapping

Synopsis: We have to be strategic in our prayer, targeting and praying against specific strongholds. BUT, how do we identify the strategic strongholds, and how should we go about targeting these strongholds? Is it just merely praying? If you have no idea, fret not for the solution is here!

Objective: Learning how to target spiritual strongholds and praying against them specifically.


Witnessing (Day 3), 16 Dec

BS05: Ethics

Synopsis: Is homosexuality a natural inclination? Are homosexuals individuals trapped in the wrong bodies? What happens if a baby is born with two sets of genitals and a choice has to be made to take away one. What is the right choice? Interested to know? This workshop is the one for you!

Objective: To address and answer common debatable questions and topics.

BS06: Sharing the Gospel in Mandarin

Synopsis: Do you face difficulties expressing the gospel in Mandarin? What are some mindsets of the Chinese that you can tap upon to bridge the topic of the gospel to them? There are many evangelistic tools we can use, but which are the ones the Chinese can identify with? Come and understand the mindset of the Chinese people in order to reach out to them more effectively with the “right” evangelistic tools.

Objective: To share the gospel boldly and effectively with the Chinese.

CL05: Chicken Soup for Your Friend’s Soul

Synopsis: Ever met a non-christian friend who faces problems in his/her life? Ever wondered how you can grab this opportunity to use lessons in the bible to encourage her or lift her spirits up? This workshop will teach you how to use counseling skills together with the truths of the bible to life your friend up and at the same time, share the gospel.

Objective: To learn practical ways on how to incorporate biblical teachings into the advice given to someone in need.

CL06: Christian’s Guide to Surviving in School

Synopsis: Ever felt like skipping a lesson as the class is just not worth your time to go to? Ever felt weary of having to be nice and show love to a friend who does not appreciate you? Ever struggled with having to respect authority in school even though you feel that they do not deserve it? We are called to be the salt and light wherever we are. However, it seems impossible at times, especially in school. Is there any way out? Fret no longer, as this workshop is just for you! Come and learn how to survive Christianity in school.

Objective: To learn how to be a good testimony in school.

LS05: Workplace Beacon

Synopsis: For those who are working, we all know that the workplace is filled with politics. Does it appear that “profit at any cost” is more important than running an ethical, fair company? How do you survive in a workplace where backstabbing, gossiping and dishonesty is prevalent? Find out through this course!

Objective: to learn a Christian’s code of conduct in the workplace.

LS06: Cults

Synopsis: The cult “Jehovah witnesses” believes that Jesus was God’s first creation and everything was created by means of him. Other cults believe that there is a spiritual godmother and godfather. How then do we counter their beliefs with the word of Christ and not be misled by them? Come and find out through this workshop!

Objective: to understand and gain more knowledge on cults and how to counter them.
